Knights of the realm - Gemalt mit Acrylstiften

 
Irgendwann im letzten Jahr fiel mir das Plastikset der Fireforge Ritter vor die Füße, dass in einer meiner Hobbykisten friedlich vor sich her dümpelte. Kurzentschlossen malte ich die dann ohne groß nachzudenken an. Wie dumm. Ich erkläre gleich, warum ich das so sehe.
Dann überzog ich die Minis noch mit einer Shade, die irgendwie fleckig auftrug.
Was ein Pech! Irgendwas störte mich an den Farben, und dann noch der misslungene Schattierungsversuch.
Gefallen haben mir die dann die Minis nicht wirklich. Denn, nachdem ich sie bemalt hatte, fiel mir der Fehler auf. Was ich vergessen hatte, war die Tatsache, doch mal auf die Heraldik zu achten!!!!
Super. Anfängerfehler.

In der Heraldik gibt es 4 Grundfarben. Rot, Blau, Grün und Schwarz. Bedingt kann auch Purpur verwendet werden. Als Metallfarben kommen noch Gold und Silber hinzu, die auch als Gelb bzw. Weiß dargestellt werden.
Dazu gibt es dann Grundregeln.
Metalle sollen nicht auf Metalle, Farben nicht auf andere Farben aufgetragen werden. Außerdem gilt: Metalle dürfen nicht an Metalle angrenzen, Farben nicht an Farben.
Darauf hatte ich unsinnigerweise nicht geachtet. Keine Ahnung warum.

Im letzten Monat unterhielten wir uns in unserer Malgruppe über neue Bemal Techniken. Jens hatte Acrylstifte für sich entdeckt, und davon so geschwärmt, dass einige von uns die Idee fassten, dass sollte man dann auch mal selbst ausprobieren.
Empfohlen wurde ein Acrylstifte-Set von Amazon. 36 Farbtöne für knappe 11,- Euro.

Das kann man dann mal versuchen, dachte ich.
Ich testete die Malstifte erst einmal an ein paar grundierten Minis. Funktionierte prima. Vor allem der großflächige Auftrag war perfekt. Im Gegensatz zum Pinsel entfallen ja bei der Bemalung mit Stiften zwei Schritte. Der permanente Wechsel zwischen Farbauftrag und Farbe „nachtunken“. Sowie das regelmäßige Säubern des Pinsels.
Den Stift setze ich an und male. Fertig.

Die Spitze der Acrylstifte ist auch so gestaltet, dass man in Ecken reinkommt.
Folglich schnappte ich mir meine Fireforge Ritter und übermalte sie. Einfach auf die vorhandenen Farben. Das funktionierte ohne Probleme. Obwohl ich diverse Blau-, Grün-, Rot- und Gelbtöne verwendet hatte.
Das Ganze war an einem Tag erledigt. Also die komplette Bemalung der Mini: Das Pferd und der Ritter selbst.
Da ich auch noch Decals von GW überhatte, war auch die Wappenfindung schnell erledigt.
Da ich diese Ritter als reine Fantasyritter einsetzen möchte, habe ich mich dann doch dazu entschieden, unterschiedliche Blau-, Purpur-, Rot- und Grüntöne zu verwenden.
Bunt sollten sie ja bleiben. Aber mit klarer Farbgebung.
In diesem Bericht sehen Sie das Ergebnis.
Persönlich bin ich sehr zufrieden damit.
Sollte Sie auch „bunte Armeen“ zu bemalen haben, überlegen Sie sich einfach mal den Stiften eine Chance zu geben.
Ich werde jetzt nicht komplett umsteigen, weil der Pinsel gerade bei kleineren Flächen und Hinterschneidungen der Figur, also das, was man gemeinhin als Lücken oder Ecken bezeichnet, seine Vorteile hat. Diese Teile der Figur erreicht man mit einem Pinsel natürlich besser als mit dem Stift.
Dennoch. Bei großen Flächen ist der Stift genial, auch bei punktegenauer Bemalung.
Hier liegen die Vorteile als Ergänzung.
Hinzu kommt, dass es unterschiedliche Farbsets gibt. Die oben genannten Pinsel überzeugen durch die Brillanz der Farben.
Von AK Interactive gibt es Stifte, die zwar deutlich teurer sind, aber exakte Militärtöne treffen. Auch eine Bereicherung, wenn ich nur an die Bemalung von Tarnfarben auf deutschen Panzer denke. Mit dem Pinsel oftmals ein Graus.

Sometime last year, the plastic set of Fireforge Knights fell at my feet decided to paint them without giving it much thought. How stupid. I'll explain why I think that in a minute.
Then I covered the minis with a shade, which applied in a somewhat patchy way.
What bad luck! Something about the colors bothered me, and then the failed attempt at shading.

Beginner's mistake.

Last month, we were talking about new painting techniques in our gaming group. Jens had discovered acrylic pens and raved about them so much that some of us came up with the idea that we should give them a try.

I thought it was worth a try.
I first tested the paint pens on a few primed miniatures. They worked great. The large-scale application was especially perfect. Unlike with a brush, painting with pens eliminates two steps: the constant switching between applying paint and dipping in the paint. And the regular cleaning of the brush.
Here, you pick up the pen and paint. Done.
So I grabbed my Fireforge knights and painted over them. Simply over the existing colors. It worked without any problems, even though I had used various shades of blue, green, red, and yellow.
The whole thing was done in one day. That meant the complete painting of the miniature: the horse and the knight itself.
Since I also had some leftover decals from GW, finding the coat of arms was also done quickly.
Since I want to use these knights purely as fantasy knights, I decided to use different shades of blue, purple, red, and green.
They should remain colorful, but with a clear color scheme.
In this report, you can see the result.
Personally, I'm very happy with it.
If you also have "colorful armies" to paint, consider giving these pens a try.
I won't switch completely now, because the brush has its advantages, especially for smaller areas and undercuts on the figure, what are commonly referred to as gaps or corners. These parts of the figure are obviously easier to reach with a brush than with a pen.
Nevertheless, the pen is brilliant for large areas, even for pinpoint painting.
This is where the advantages lie as a complement.
In addition, there are different paint sets. The brushes mentioned above impress with the brilliance of their colors.
AK Interactive offers pens that are significantly more expensive, but capture precise military tones. Also a real asset, especially when I think about painting camouflage colors on German tanks. Often a nightmare with a brush.

Saumur - Musée des Blindés (Panzermuseum, Tank Museum)

Mein ältester Freund erfüllte sich vor ein paar Wochen einen lang gehegten Wunsch. Einmal das 24h Rennen von Le Mans live mitzuerleben.
Natürlich hatte ich nichts Besseres zu tun, als ihm zu sagen, „Du weißt, dass das französische Panzermuseum in Saumur, da nicht weit entfernt ist?“
Er wusste es nicht, aber da er genau wie ich ein großer Geschichtsfan ist, nahm er den Besuch des Museums noch in seinem Reiseplan auf.
Ich weiß jetzt noch nicht, ob seine Frau von dem Vorschlag sehr begeistert war, aber auf der anderen Seite wusste ich auch, dass sie da mit Ihrem Mann mitzieht. Wie heißt es so schön. In guten, wie in schlechten Zeiten.
Natürlich verband ich den Vorschlag mit einer Bitte. Wenn Du ein paar Bilder ablichtest, stelle ich die auf meinen BLOG, so mein Vorschlag. Na und was mir auch klar war. Dass er das gerne tut.
Alte Freunde sind so etwas wie selbst ausgesuchte Geschwister, ein Zitat, dass ich erst unlängst von Richard David Precht hörte. Na und Matta gehört definitiv zu dieser Kategorie Freund.

Es wurden dann auch deutlich mehr, als "ein paar Bilder". Das sehen Sie in diesem Bericht.
Saumur gehört zu den drei großen Panzermuseen in Westeuropa. Das deutsche Panzermuseum in Munster, das englische Panzermuseum in Bovington, und eben das französische in Saumur.

Das Musée des Blindés, so der offizielle Name, blickt nun auch schon auf eine lange Geschichte zurück. Gegründet wurde es im Jahr 1977 und mittlerweile finden sich dort über 800 Panzerfahrzeuge (natürlich nicht alle in der Ausstellung), von denen auch 200 funktionstüchtig sind.
Eines der Highlights in der einzige fahrbereite Tiger II (Königstiger) der Welt. Der weilte allerdings während des Besuchs meines Freundes in Bovington, als „Hauptdarsteller“ auf dem diesjährigen Tankfest. BEST OF TANKFEST 2025 - The Tank Museum, Bovington UK
Neben dem Panzermuseum gibt es noch in Saumur das französische Kavalleriemuseum. Ein paar Bilder füge ich noch am Ende des Berichtes dazu.

Heute möchte ich mit Ihnen die Bilder von diesem Urlaubstrip teilen. Es sind wirklich einige Bilder zusammengekommen, und ich denke, dass Sie sich ein sehr schönes Bild von diesem Museum machen können. Mir haben die Fotos sehr gut gefallen, na und vielleicht führt mich irgendwann einmal selbst mein Weg nach Saumur.

A few weeks ago, my oldest friend fulfilled a long-held dream: to experience the 24 Hours of Le Mans live.
Of course, I had nothing better to do than say to him, "You know that the French Tank Museum in Saumur isn't far away?"
He didn't know, but since he's a huge history buff like me, he added a visit to the museum to his itinerary.
I don't know yet if his wife was thrilled about the suggestion, but on the other hand, I also knew that she'd be there with her husband. As the saying goes, for better or for worse.
Of course, I combined the suggestion with a request. If you take a few pictures, I'll post them on my blog, that was my suggestion. And what was also clear to me was that he'd be happy to do that.
Old friends are like hand-picked siblings, a quote I recently heard from Richard David Precht. Well, Matta definitely belongs to this category of friend.
Saumur is one of the three major tank museums in Western Europe: the German Tank Museum in Munster, the English Tank Museum in Bovington, and the French one in Saumur.
The Musée des Blindés, as it's officially called, also looks back on a long history. Founded in 1977, it now houses over 800 armored vehicles (not all of them in the exhibition, of course), 200 of which are functional.
One of the highlights is the world's only drivable Tiger II (King Tiger). However, it was in Bovington during my friend's visit, as the "starring character" at this year's Tankfest. Here's a picture of the tank and a link to a WhatsApp video showing the tank in action in Bovington.

In addition to the Tank Museum, there's also the French Cavalry Museum in Saumur. I'll add a few pictures of it at the end of this report.
Today I'd like to share with you the pictures from this vacation trip. There are a lot of pictures and I think you can get a very good impression of this museum. I really liked the photos, and maybe someday my path will lead me to Saumur myself.
