Star Wars Legion - Stormtroopers

Erst vor kurzem hatte ich in einem kleinen Bericht meine Rebelleninfanterie der Star Wars Legion Grundbox vorgestellt.

Dort hatte ich ja erwähnt, dass diese Rebellen aufgrund Ihrer Modellierung und der Farbpalette schon eine erste Wahl für mich darstellten.
Dennoch hatte ich mit dem Kauf gewartet.
Warum?
Wegen den Gegnern. Den Stormtroopern.

Die Kaufzurückhaltung hatte dabei einen ganz trivialen Grund.
Ich kann nicht wirklich Weiß malen.
Jedenfalls nicht so, wie das meinen Ansprüchen entspricht.
Stormtrooper, die dann aber in Mangel eines künstlerischen Vermögens eben nicht so aussehen wie in den Filmen, gehen dann aber auch wieder nicht.
Der Look muss da schon stimmen.
Dabei möchte ich betonen, dass ich nicht erwarte, dass die Miniaturen glänzen. Viele Maler bekommen es wirklich hin – durch Verwendung eines finalen Lackauftrages oder mit dem Verwenden verschiedener Malmittel – die Uniformen so schimmern zu lassen, dass dies schon wirklich realistisch aussieht.
Darum geht es mir jetzt nicht.
Hauptsache die Abgrenzung der weißen Uniform mit dem schwarzen Trägerstoff kommt rüber, und Hauptsache das Weiß ist sauber gemalt.
Heiko kann das malen. Und deshalb wanderten meine Minis auch zu ihm.
Dass diese Entscheidung richtig war, werden Sie spätestens dann sehen, wenn meine Scout Einheit fertig ist. Die habe ich selbst bemalt, und NEIN, ich bin nicht zufrieden.
Doch zurück zu den Stormtroopern.
Wir wissen, dass die Stormtrooper bis zu Episode 7 die verlässlichen Erfüllungsgehilfen des galaktischen Imperiums waren.
Ohne große Fragen zu stellen, führten sie die Befehle ihrer Offiziere aus, warfen sich in die Schlacht und schossen mit ihren Waffen auf alles, was ihnen in die Quere kam.
Vertrauend auf ihre Rüstung sieht man sie dann auch in den alten Filmen selten in Deckung gehen.
Eine richtige Taktik ist da nicht festzustellen.
Die Trooper tauchen wie es sich gehört meistens im Trupp und in der Masse auf, gehen in aufrechter Haltung nach vorne, wobei sie ein Dauerfeuer aus der Hüfte abgeben, und sie lassen sich von den Rebellen auch oftmals zusammenschießen. Kein Wunder bei einer solchen Angriffstaktik.
Bei den neueren Filmen ist dies etwas anders dargestellt, auch in Computerspielen wie Star Wars Battlefront, wo die Jungs dann schon in Deckung gehen oder diese auch für sich ausnutzen.
In den neueren Filmen desertieren sie ja sogar (wobei mir ein Kollege, der da tiefer im Thema ist, versicherte, dass dies auch schon früher vorkam. Mag sein; aber für mich als Filmgucker und Unwissender des gesamten Star Wars Codex ist das neu und macht sich an der letzten Trilogie fest).
Oh Gott. Sie desertieren?!?!?
So ein bisschen ging da schon mein Weltbild kaputt, als in Episode 7 ein Stormtrooper auf einmal ein Gewissen bekam.
Ich hatte das anfänglich gar nicht kapiert.
Stormtrooper kämpfen und sterben doch für den Imperator. Die haben doch keine eigenen Gedanken, keine Zweifel. Die zögern doch nicht.
Nun gut.
Man hat uns das in Episode 7 versucht zu erklären. Offensichtlich war es nun so, dass die neue Ordnung da auf so etwas wie Rekruten zurückgreifen musste. Die Stormtrooper sahen nur noch so aus wie ihre Vorgänger, aber sie waren viel schwächer.

Um es mal mit einem Beispiel aus der Geschichte zu vergleichen. Die Soldaten der A.R.V.N. (Army of the Republic of South Vietnam) sahen auch aus wie US Marines des 2. Weltkriegs, aber eben kleiner und mit viel zu großen Helmen; und die Soldaten der A.R.V.N. waren auch arme Schweine, mussten die Drecksarbeit machen, erhielten kein Ansehen, keine Würdigung vor/während/nach dem Krieg, und zweifelten sicherlich sehr, sehr oft an dem, was sie da tun mussten.
Wir sehen. Die Stormtrooper der alten Episoden waren Marines, die Stormtrooper der neueren Filme wirken „vietnamisiert“ (so nannte der US Präsident Nixon den historischen Vorgang die amerikanischen Streitkräfte aus dem Land zu ziehen, und die A.R.V.N. den Job machen zu lassen, was bekanntermaßen in die Hose ging).
Na und weil die neuen Stormtrooper mich dann auch so bisschen an im Stich gelassene Verbündete und an zwangsrekrutierte arme Kerle erinnern, habe ich seit Episode 7 auch Mitleid mit Ihnen.
Keine Angst und Respekt, wie noch in den alten Filmen, sondern einfach nur noch Mitleid.
In der Grundbox befinden sich 2 Stormtrooper Tupps und zwei Stormtrooper auf Speeder Bikes.
Hier im Bericht sehen sie die beiden Infanterietrupps. Die Bikes sind noch zu bemalen.
Die Stormtrooper sind im Trupp wie folgt bewaffnet.

Die Standardtrooper sind mit einem E-11 Blaster ausgerüstet. Dann gibt es noch einen Soldaten mit einem DLT-19 schweren Blaster, also so etwas wie das Maschinengewehr im Trupp. Der sechste Soldat hat einen HH-12 Raketenwerfer.
Angeführt werden die Trooper von einem Sergeanten, der ebenfalls mit einem E-11 Blaster ausgerüstet ist.
Chef der Truppe ist natürlich der Master himself.

Just recently I presented my rebel infantry of the Star Wars Legion basic box in a small report.

I mentioned there that these rebels were a first choice for me because of their modeling and color palette.
Still, I had waited to buy it.
Why?
Because of the opponents. The storm troopers.
The reluctance to buy had a very trivial reason.
I can't really paint white.
At least not in the way I want it to be.
Stormtroopers, who then don't look like they do in the films due to a lack of artistic ability, don't work.
The look has to be right.
I would like to emphasize that I don't expect the miniatures to shine. Many painters really get it - by using a final application of varnish or by using different painting media - to make the uniforms shimmer so that it looks really realistic.
That's not my point now.
The main thing is that the demarcation of the white uniform with the black carrier material comes across, and the main thing is that the white is painted cleanly.
Heiko can paint that. And that's why my minis went to him too.
You will see that this decision was the right one when my scout unit is ready at the latest.
I painted it myself, and NO, I'm not satisfied.
But back to the storm troopers.
We know that up to episode 7, the Stormtroopers were the dependable accomplices of the galactic empire.
Without asking too much questions, they carried out their officers' orders, threw themselves into battle, and shot anything in their way with their weapons.
Trusting in their armor, you rarely see them take cover in the old films.
A correct tactic cannot be determined.
The troopers appear, as it should be, mostly in the troop and in the crowd, walk forward in an upright position, giving off continuous fire from the hip, and they often allow the rebels to shoot them down. No wonder with such an attack tactic.
In the newer films this is presented a little differently, also in computer games like Star Wars Battlefront, where the guys then take cover or take advantage of them for themselves.
In the more recent films they even desert (although a colleague who is deeper into the subject assured me that this also happened earlier. Maybe; but for me as a film watcher and ignorant of the entire Star Wars Codex this is new and important stuck to the last trilogy).
Oh God. Are you deserting?!?!?
My worldview was already a bit broken when a stormtrooper suddenly got a conscience in episode 7.
At first I didn't get it.
Stormtroopers fight and yet die for the Emperor.
They have no thoughts of their own, no doubts.
They don't hesitate.
Well; that’s how I see them.
They tried to explain the change to us in episode 7. Obviously it was now the case that the new order had to fall back on recruits. The Stormtroopers only looked like their predecessors, but they were much weaker.
To compare it with an example from history. The soldiers of the A.R.V.N. (Army of the Republic of South Vietnam) also looked like US Marines from WWII, but smaller and with helmets that were way too big; and the soldiers of the A.R.V.N. were also poor soldiers, had to do the dirty work, received no reputation, no appreciation before / during / after the war, and certainly very, very often doubted what they had to do there.
We see the stormtroopers of the old episodes were Marines, the stormtroopers of the newer films seem “Vietnamized” (that's what US President Nixon called the historical process of pulling the American armed forces out of the country and letting the ARVN do the job.
Well, because the new Stormtroopers remind me of abandoned allies and poor fellows who were forcibly recruited, I've felt sorry for them since episode 7.
No fear and respect, like in the old films, just pity.
In the basic box there are 2 Stormtrooper troops and two Stormtroopers on Speeder Bikes.
Here in the report you can see the two infantry squads. The bikes are still to be painted.
The stormtroopers are armed in the troop as follows.
The standard troopers are equipped with an E-11 blaster. Then there is a soldier with a DLT-19 heavy blaster, something like the machine gun in the squad. The sixth soldier has an HH-12 rocket launcher.
The troopers are led by a sergeant who is also equipped with an E-11 blaster.
The head of the group is of course the master himself.
