„Hey Sven. Ich will heute
mal was testen.
Also brachten wir mal bewaffnete Zivilisten ins Spiel.
Will halt mal sehen, was da passiert.“
„Stopp, stopp, stopp. What you see, is what you get.
„NEEEEIIIINNNNNNNN!!!!!! (laut schreiend und den Kopf nickend)
Ich wollte doch nur spielen“.
Was war passiert?
"Hey Sven. I want to test something today. I’ve painted partisans,
and now they have to get on the gaming table. "
"If it has to be!"
Our game began like this in the summer of this year.
Jürgen, Sven and I had agreed to meet for a Battlegroup game.
Jürgen wanted to test his British army and I just wanted to get a splash of paint on the BG plate.
Always olive, green and earth-colored uniforms on a WW II plate does not work permanently. So I decided to bring armed civilians into the play.
"What kind of weapons do they have?" Sven asked me.
“Well, I would like to play them with submachine guns. I just want to see what happens there. "
"If it has to be!" Sven answered.
If he had already guessed what the future would bring at this point, then the answer would definitely have been different.
What happened?
I had brought 10 partisans with me. Jürgen provided the rest of the Allied troops.
First came the scouts.
So, on allied side, reconnaissance tanks and partisans.
Sven brought his recce halftracks on the game table.
My partisans, covered behind hedges, marched in a row, because partisans are vulnerable.
Now the first StuG appeared.
No matter; we countered with everything we had.
Flame tanks, cruiser tanks, halftracks that our big brother from Beyond the Pond had given to us.
The whole thing was of course accompanied by the dreadful tones of a badly tuned bagpipe.
Sven was unimpressed.
First he aimed on the halftrack.
Fortunately, the shot diverged backwards.
Fortunately.
The bagpiper was pinned, and he silenced down.
But the halftrack also got a pin.
The German tanks and PAK wagons lurked behind the hedges.
No matter.
Our Cromwell dared to go forward.
Bang, and one of the halftracks was history.
We decided to keep driving up and pull the partisans forward as well.
The Germans lurked on and Sven gave a StuG “Ambush Fire” order.
The British infantry had meanwhile reached the improvised artillery observation post that was set up right next to the house.
The one Cromwell who proudly wore the Scottish banner on the turret was too brave and was blown into the air with a targeted hit.
The StuGs lurked and were ready to punish any mistake.
That's why Jürgen and I just felt our way forward.
However, the first hit was aSherman ,
then a StuG blew up.
The Firefly was really dangerous.
Bang.
The second StuG had done itself because it had left cover and was now visible in a gap in the house.
The Parstisans now felt their way towards the house. Always hidden behind the hull of a tank.
Upstairs in the house was a German infantry squad with a bazooka.
Initially, this succeeded in pinning the partisans.
I cleared the marker and then went into hand-to-hand combat on the next round.
So what ...
The attack was really successful. The MPs turned out to be absolutely fatal in this confinement. The German defenders really had no chance with their carbines.
By the way, a tactic that I practiced a hell of a lot in Call of Duty on the PC. I always storm through the corridors, bunkers and rooms with an MP or an assault rifle. The opponents never manage to offer decisive resistance if they only have carbines or pistols.
Really a realistic simulation.
I really have to say that now.
The German and British armored vehicles were now watching each other.
First Sven managed to pin the partisans.
We reacted and now pulled a few vehicles forward.
Even the actually weak half-tracks and reconnaissance tanks were now at the top of the attack.
The supply truck, trying to reload the StuG with ammo, was quickly switched off.
At that moment, the British headquarter was able to pick up an enemy speech in its radio car.
The German troops gave up because all armored vehicles were switched off.
With the rest of the troops Sven could not have achieved anything decisive, and so the game ended with a clear victory for the Allied side.
A really good baptism of fire for Jürgen's Brits and my partisans, who were brought into battle for the first time on Sven's game table.
Well and by the way, my dear readers.
I actually won this time together with Jürgen.
Incredible, isn't it ????
But believe me, this streak of success will not last long.
Sorrowful reports will follow again.
But I know you will be by my side in the New Year too, and that is why we will of course continue to play.

Battlegroup accompanied us through the game year 2020. Every game had its own characteristics. Some were very close. Some clearly. And yes. You could at least celebrate two of my victories. I will present two reports from 2020 to you in the new year.
Today, however, I would like to wish you a happy new year, with lots, lots and lots of health. That is what we all need most today.
To 2021, and I hope it will be better than 2020.
Thanks for putting so much into this post - enjoyed. Best Wishes for 2021
