Filmset "de Gaulle" in Paris

Stellen Sie sich vor, sie schlendern durch Paris, und denken sich, och, das Hotel de Ville kann man sich ja auch mal anschauen.

Dort angekommen, denken Sie, warum werden hier denn Sandsäcke aufgebaut?

Und was sind denn das für Fahrzeuge, die dort rumstehen?

Irritiert sind Sie sicherlich, denn die alten Zivilfahrzeuge, die Sie da sehen, erinnern Sie sicherlich an ein Oldtimertreffen.

Dann entdecken Sie aber auch noch Militärfahrzeuge mitten in dieser friedlichen Umgebung.

Als Spezialist bekommen Sie dann keinen Schreck, denn die scheinen dann ja schon aus einer anderen Epoche zu stammen.
Aber was soll das Ganze?
So ungefähr ging es Anfang des Monats meiner Tochter und meinem Schwiegersohn, die bei einem Städte Tripp hier an diesem zentralen Platz in Paris in die Dreharbeiten zu einem Film über General de Gaulle stolperten.
Die französische Filmfirma Pathé, in Deutschland vor allem bekannt durch die Realverfilmungen von Asterix und Obelix, dreht zurzeit eine zweiteilige Miniserie über das Wirken General de Gaulles im Zweiten Weltkrieg.

Jetzt aber selbst ein solches Filmset in einer realen, historischen Umgebung einmal live zu sehen, hat dann schon etwas.
Wie Sie an den hier gezeigten Bildern sehen können, fährt die Produktionsfirma dann schon etwas auf.
Persönlich gefällt mir dies ausgesprochen gut.
Auch ich stelle mittlerweile in Fernsehproduktionen fest, dass die Filmschaffenden sich bemühen, da authentischer herüberzukommen als beispielsweise in älteren Filmen der 1960er oder 1970er Jahre.
Auch der Blick auf die Kostüme der Komparsen zeigt, dass auch hier der Look der Pariser Bevölkerung und der Resistance sehr gut getroffen ist.

Der Jeep,

der LKW von Citroen,

die M16 Halbkette mit Vierlingsflak,

die VW Kübelwagen,

alles schön zeitgemäß und realistisch.
Das Modellbauerherz geht natürlich auf, wenn man sich das realistische „Weathering“ gerade des M16 Halftrack anschaut.
Der sieht wirklich so als, als ob er von der Normandie bis nach Paris durchgerollt wäre.
Also entsprechend den historischen Ereignissen.
Der Film soll die Jahre 1940 bis 1945 behandeln, und vor allem auch das problematische Verhältnis de Gaulles mit seinen Verbündeten entsprechend darstellen.
„Damals wurde de Gaulle der de Gaulle, den wir kennen, ein Nationalheld. Wir werden seine Erfolge, seine Misserfolge, die Krisen, die er überwunden hat, seine Beziehung zu Churchill und seine Aktionen zur Befreiung Frankreichs dank der Kolonien untersuchen“, so Ardavan Safaee, der Präsident von Pathé Films.
Gefilmt wird soweit bisher bekannt in Paris, in der Normandie und in Marokko.
Geplant ist die Veröffentlichung für das Jahr 2024 bzw. 2025.
Ich bin gespannt, wie der Film dann final wirken wird.
 
Imagine, you are strolling through Paris and thinking, oh, let’s have a look at the Hotel de Ville.
When you get there, you think, why are sandbags being set up here?
And what kind of vehicles are standing there?
You are probably irritated because the old civilian vehicles you see there certainly remind you of a classic car meeting.
Then you will also discover military vehicles in the middle of this peaceful environment.
As a specialist, you won't be shocked because they seem to come from a different era.
But what's the point of all this?
That's pretty much what happened to my daughter and my son-in-law, when they stumbled upon the filming of a film about General de Gaulle in this central square in Paris during a city trip.
The French film company Pathé, best known in Germany for the movies of Asterix and Obelix, is currently making a two-part mini-series about General de Gaulle's life in the Second World War.

But there's something special about seeing a film set like this live in a real, historical setting.
As you can see from the pictures shown here, there are some attractive historic cars.
Personally, I really like this.
I too now notice in television productions that the filmmakers try to come across as more authentic than, for example, in older films from the 1960s or 1970s.
A look at the costumes also shows that the look of the Parisian population and the Resistance is very well captured here too.

VW Kübelwagen,
everything is beautifully contemporary and realistic.
Of course, the modeler's heart warms when you look at the realistic "weathering" of the M16 Halftrack.
It really looks like it rolled from Normandy to Paris.
So according to historical events.
The film is intended to cover the years 1940 to 1945 and, above all, to portray de Gaulle's problematic relationship with his allies.
“That’s when de Gaulle became the de Gaulle we know, a national hero. We will examine his successes, his failures, the crises he overcame, his relationship with Churchill and his actions to liberate France thanks to the colonies,” said Ardavan Safaee, President of Pathé Films.
As far as is known, filming will take place in Paris, Normandy and Morocco.
Publication is planned for 2024 or 2025.
I'm excited to see what the final cut of the film will be.
